Wonderful Things

I am, I must admit, kind of grumpy this morning. I didn’t work last night, I was tired, so I worked my 8 hour day and left my laptop at work. The challenge to this is that it means that I come in to a “to do” list which is three-quarters of a page long. It’s enough to make anyone crazy.

I started reading 1000 Awesome Things a few weeks ago, and I’ve liked reading it – it’s four sentences of niceness, things that make me read and go “yeah, that is a good thing”.

So, in an attempt to bestir my grumpiness, I really like when you wake up 2 hours before your alarm goes off, and realize that you have 2 whole more hours to sleep. What do you like?

I like hot, salty French Fries.

I also like packages in the mail.

I like a book that you sort of find yourself slowly easing into, like a hot bath, and you get yourself all comfortable in the pages of it, and you immerse yourself in the story, and your day is empty so you can soak in it as long as you want.

Not many days like that, and I love them when they happen.

I like a clear countertop. And dogs that do not whine at me constantly. And a new book with a pretty hardcover and fresh pages.

I like naps in the afternoon.

I like those weekend mornings where I wake up a bit early and extra inspired, get all my housework done and then realize I’ve got the whole day ahead of me. It’s like a bonus day.

    chocolate.

strong smelling soap (I like Herbaria soaps – musky scents or scents with cloves and other spices)

and I like your new header photo!

I like a cup of hot tea, or hot chocolate, or hot cider. And to sit and look out my sliding glass door without anyone saying a word. And to marvel at all of the little noises my house makes that I never hear.

Like you, I love rolling over, looking at the alarm clock and realizing that I can sleep for a few more hours . Of course, the downside is when you roll over, look at the alarm clock and see that you only have 2 minutes before the alarm blares…. and hot bubble baths with a nice glass of wine….perfect.

I agree with much of the above – packages in the mail, chocolate, a new book with crisp pages.

I also love soft, fresh sheets. And getting to lay between them!
