A Modest Proposal

Mr. Spit’s Notice of assessment from CRA arrived. Every year I hold out hope that we will have done some thing wrong, and instead of the paltry return we are getting, we will be amazed and astonished because we are getting way more.

It occurs to me, perhaps more people would file their taxes early if you got a bonus for doing so. Maybe a 10% Tuesday, or a file one, get the next one free.

Whaddya think?

(Alas, quicktax is annoyingly right, all the time)

I think an early filing bonus is definitely in order! Our return has been sitting, completed, on our desk for over a month now…

  2. Martha says:

I like the early filing bonus. I feel like I pay taxes year round because I do!!
The so called “tea party” tax protest they had locally was amusing. Such a waste of good Earl Grey.

  3. Susan says:

You have a gift for marketing. At least you’re getting a paltry sum. We’re paying a hefty amount.

  4. Donna says:

Love the early filing bonus idea! But we would never get it!

  5. Amy says:

I was just thrilled not to owe the government this year! But an early filing bonus is brilliant.

  6. Tanya says:

I was incredibly HAPPY to do my taxes this year. I’ve never been so happy to do my taxes. Certainly not the year I started college, was making $60/week before tax and wound up paying something like $225…

Now that, well, that sucked frankly.

  7. Trish says:

I’m all for an early filing bonus.
    Sorry about the taxes.
We got a large refund this year, but it still hurts to see how much we actually paid. And of course, ours are much lower (rate wise) than yours, I’m sure.

I hate doing my tax. I always get money back, but it’s never what I hope it to be, either.

hahah, don’t something wrong and getting a bigger refund..that made me laugh. I think the way the cra works is that you only find out about mistakes if you owe more.
