Get up. Make coffee. Let dog out. Feed cats. Drink coffee. Get dressed. Go to work.
Write to do list. Attend meetings. Send emails. Work through to do list.
Go home. Let dog out. Rest for half an hour. Feed cats. Maybe feed self a real meal, maybe eat cereal. Read, maybe. Knit, maybe. Garden, maybe. Watch TV, maybe.
Have bath. Crawl into bed. Read. Try and sleep. Maybe.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Still Trudging.
This post makes me a little sad for you.
Don’t discount the beauty in that simple routine. Too often, we stop looking in the day to day stuff for beauty, but those are the places where real life lies. Take a deep breath of morning air and of that first cup of coffee. Tuck your fingers deep into kitty and puppy fur. Garden, yes. Watch bugs. Watch the dragon flies. See the ants, really watch them. Smell the roses. Plants some Evening Scented Stocks (Matthiola Bicornis). Read, just for the sheer joy of it. Or listen to some of the of the truly great readers of our times via an audio book. Knit something delicious and new to you in your desert island yarns.
You have been working so hard focussing so much on your goal but now it is time to find and make the beauty in the mundane. But start with just taking a deep breath. It is your turn, to just do that.
